Utah has record snow levels for 2011. Flashbacks of the 1983 floods have already become a grim reality for many landowners in the State. By this time of year Spring run-off has usually ended.
It was time to take a drive north and hit Wyoming. All I can say is that is was unusually cold and the fishing was slow. I landed a very nice brown trout that pushed 20. Fat, healthy and well marked. I took my time landing the fish and so did the fellas with getting a net and a lens on the specimen. Seldom am I seen wielding a nymph rig and making high stick drifts. I am not of the elitist mentality that such fishing tactics are beneath me…I just rarely take the opportunity to do such. So you can all believe me when I say I was somewhat disappointed that I did not get a photo or two during the dredging.
When conditions are not optimal it becomes a challenge to capture imagery that is compelling. These moments are pivatal and important to the learning process. Having said that, no single filter or piece of equipment is going to be the answer for such situations. They only help.
